A Day Worth Recording

By Cheeseminer

Thurstan

Some 25 or so years ago an elderly friend from Meeting converted a lot of garden veg plot into growing seedling trees.

This oak, glowing in the early morning sun, is one of a number of trees that we had from him as 2ft seedlings for our garden. A significant part of local woodland was repopulated by Thurstan's seedlings following the 1987 hurricane. He is now very elderly and frail, and in our thoughts at the moment.

Another seriously cold but beautiful day today. S joined me on the trip to work and back as he's volunteering at the wildlife offices today and tomorrow.
