The Littleton's Explore Maine

Dear Diary,

This year marks Maine's 200th birthday as a state.  Before 1820, Maine was part of Massachusetts.  In March of 1820 they state was created as part of the infamous Missouri Compromise.  Missouri would be admitted to the Union as a slave state and Maine would enter as a free state, thus keeping the balance equal.  Maine would always help lead the way in the abolitionist movement and had many stops on the underground railroad.  The Littleton's think it is a good year to explore this beautiful state and I do too.  I plan to do a good bit of traveling "in-state" this year.  Not just the lovely rocky shoreline but the less traveled inner roads of this big state, its small towns and villages and lesser known sights.  I think this is one resolution I will be able to keep!

My little town, not named on this map, is just south and wee bit west of the "B" in Brownfield, to the left of Lester's foot..."Porter of the Border" we call it!
