Surplus Santas

Today's the day ……………………… to discard

I worry for these Santas, lying in a heap amidst all the Christmas stuff at knock-down prices in all of our supermarkets just now.  Is someone going to look after them?  Are they going to be carefully sorted, repackaged and kept somewhere until next Christmas?  I think not.

For the ones with 'Christmas 2019'  embroidered across their chests, the end is surely nigh.  They will be in that almighty Christmas dustbin before you can say 'Jingle Bells'.  I find it all unbearably sad and have to lay, at least some of the blame, on the unfettered commercialisation by the big shops, of what used to be a lovely time of the year.

Meanwhile, I shall do all in my power to try to ensure that it remains so - at least around me …………………….
