Male Blackbird (Turdus merula)

This is one of my "just incase" morning shots.  I did expect to get something better as we were going out but nothing appealed.

Yesterday was Clickychick's birthday but owing to the Christmas excesses wsshe didn't feel like going out for a meal.  Today however was different.  We had decided to try the Dog and Gun in Skelton, just 3 or 4 miles down the road.  IT is gaining quite a reputation having won the Cumbria Life Best Dining Pub award 2019.  A slight misnomer in my opinion as according to the girl who served us it no longer functions as a pub.

A more important accolade was that it gained a Michelin Bib Gourmand Award.   There were only 27 added with the Dog and Gun being the only one in Cumbria.  The award is for restaurants with good value and good cooking.  Certainly the three of us enjoyed our meal immensely.
