Edinburgh Castle

We went out this evening to see some of this year’s Message from the Skies; a collection of ‘letters’ to Scotland reflecting on the relationship with the seas, waters and coasts and the maritime heritage. We first went to Leith to see Irvine Welsh’s story about the sea; it was very Irvine Welsh. Then we went to Calton Hill to see Robin Robertson’s celebration of the 10000 miles of coast from the Solway to Berwick on Tweed; it was excellent before finishing at the Northern Lighthouse Board’s headquarters in George Street where Charlotte Runcie’s words were read by Karine Polwart. We’ll go to the City Chambers and the canal on another night; it’s on until 25 January. The blip was taken from Calton Hill looking to town.
