Distorted Planes

Some days I find it's not what I see or point my camera towards, but how I want to look at it. On a day I decided I was too busy to photograph when the sun was out, I later became disheartened by overcast light. But, out there, cracks in the ice got me motivated and so it turned into a productive day.

The ice sheet made whooping noises as it shifted, water rising and falling underneath, driven by the wind. Working my way along the shore, eventually I found a fold in the ice with a plate partly submerged. Reeds, reflections and trapped debris conspired to produce a surreal image.

Images like this which have some kind of distortion and mystery and not clearly laid out hold more interest for me.
