Dead Snake in the Middle of the Fence

I was wondering what to blip late this afternoon and the answer solved two other problems as well.

1. We are hosting the Rotary club at the farm tomorrow evening with a spit roast for the first meeting of the year with about 40 people coming.
The trouble was, all afternoon the smell of something distinctly dead has been wafting in.
We thought it was probably a wombat under the shed or tank stand but searched in vain. However we finally found a black snake (and its recently shed skin) tangled up in netting.
My mother used to leave netting lying around for the purpose of trapping snakes. Nothing against them personally but living on a farm with four young children and deadly Eastern and King Brown snakes in abundance she wasn't taking any chances.
Seems like the technique works as it's the 2nd one we have found like this near the house.
Nothing smells worse than a dead snake so social death at tomorrow's party has been averted.

2. I'm assuming this is the same snake I saw a couple of weeks ago about 70 metres further up the hill. That was close enough to the house so I'm glad it's gone.
(Helen will be too as we found it at the corner of the shed where she is planning to hold her wedding reception :-))
