Time passing

I wasn't really aware of the sparrow above me until the corner of my eye registered that its flit had turned into a parabola. Then I watched it fall from the sky, hit the pavement, twitch and die. Until today, I had never thought about the death of birds that are not mauled by cats.

In other news, 30 years after the original labour of love, I delivered a printer and a toaster to my daughter and, after we'd gone out for coffee and pudding (her choice), a backpack of books to Oxfam.
