Old Lighthouse

I thought it best not to leave it too late before going out for a blip today with storm Brendan rolling in. We walked down to town and I left Marian looking around the town while I walked out on Smeaton's Pier, where it was a bit blowy).

This is Old Lighthouse and it was built by John Smeaton but he had to rebuild the pier before he started. The lighthouse was completed in 1831. It must have been an easy gig compared to his next, that lovely red and white lighthouse on The Hoe at Plymouth. Of course when he built that, it was out on the Eddystone Rocks, 9 miles offshore in very rough seas.

I've taken quite a few shots but I like this one looking back at the town and I I like this busy composition.
