Postbox duties

I stopped on my way to work to post a letter.

In one direction a beautiful moon hung in the early morning sky. In another pink and turquoise hues. It’s a while before Storm Brendan arrives.

I am in Monton. Or Monton Carlo as the tabloid press would have it this last week. The hullabaloo is because Rebecca Long- Bailey, Salford’s MP and candidate for leadership of the Labour Party, lives here. In, of all things, a detached house. The tabloids seem to think it some sort of crime for a young woman of radical views, and her growing family, to live in these circumstances. Ridiculous.

There is a clear resemblance to the wealthy Mediterranean statelet, as is clear from the photo. Both places have independent shops, bars and eateries, terraced Victorian streets, and marinas. Well, a place to park a narrow boat on the nearby Bridgewater canal.
