Old Sea Salt

Today the weather was grim and I continued scanning my old negatives that I think are worth conserving in digital format. This picture was taken on 1975 on the world's last sea-going paddle steamer "The Waverley', moored in Glasgow and lovingly maintained as a pleasure ship operating mainly in  the Clyde Estuary. This great character will be long gone now. Thanks to the generosity of over 8,000 individuals, the support of the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society, several trusts, organisations and the Scottish Government, the Boiler Refit Appeal reached its £2.3 million target in just seven months and the ship, built in 1946,  will be back in operation this year after being withdrawn in May 2019. (The original photo was shot with my first SLR camera - a Pentax Spotmatic withTamron 135mm lens using FP4 film developed in ID11.)
