wander, stumble, wonder

The end of a year

New Years Eve was very ... weathery. We spent much of it seeing little glimpses of Dorset through rain streaked windows as my brother drove us around on the scenic route to scenery. We had a proper pub lunch (as requested by my sister) in a proper pub, and then drove on to Kimmeridge. The weather was wild outside the car, and there was no way I was getting out to take a photo. So we sat and admired the waves for a little while from the safety of the car.

The weather cleared enough in the afternoon for a stop at Corfe where we had afternoon tea, and then walked around the castle. Our route back to the car was a little muddy as we set off up the track below the castle, only to realise it was both puddley and getting dark quite quickly. But we pushed on, shoved Niece S along (Niece C doesn't know how lucky she is to be carried everywhere still), and eventually made it back to the bridge. Despite her reluctance during the ascent, it was declared 'fun' by the youngest walker in our group, so no harm done ;)

We almost didn't make it to midnight - after a full day out with bouncy children there were a few sleepy eyes in the evening. But with the help of The Dark Knight Rises and a jigsaw we made it, watched the fireworks on tv, said hurrah, and went to bed. Probably one of my less eventful new years, but nice all the same.
