Mountain, moss and viaduct

We’re staying at Llanberis and this morning went on a walk to Ceunant Mawr waterfall which falls over 100 feet into the Afon Arddu. We passed beautiful moss covered boulders and trees as we walked parallel to the river and line for the Snowdon Steam Railway. The photo shows the moss with the railway viaduct and Snowdon in the background.

We carried on climbing upwards, crossing the line to get a better view of the magnificent waterfall. The train doesn’t run in winter so no danger of us getting run over.

The extra shows F explaining about the brickwork foundation of the skewed brick arch of the viaduct. On the other side of the arch the brick courses dip down in the opposite direction. Such clever workmanship!
