War Memorial

There is nothing significant in the detail of this memorial to the fallen of the First World War, rather something you cannot see in the photo, and that is its position in the church.
At one time it was set in a fine marble structure (see extra photo) in our church, Central Hall in Tollcross. Ever since it was removed from there, following amalgamation of the congregations some eight years ago, it has sat on the floor, leaning against the wall, being deemed too heavy to be mounted on the wall itself.
Tonight at choir practice, it was noticed that it had finally been mounted - not on the wall but recessed into the stonework and therefore holds its place with the dignity that has been denied it for so long.
