Towards Hoy (Day 1723)

It has been a busy day, starting with a trip into town to collect a kitchen tap for a customer in Stromness.
On the way to fit the tap, I stopped off to look at another job, then got on with fitting the tap. The process would have been a fair bit quicker if the elderly customer had allowed me to switch the water off and on, but apparently it was very complicated and he insisted he did it himself. The stop cock was in an outhouse and it took him 10 minutes to walk there and switch the water off. I was further delayed by needing an extension to the clamp which holds the tap to the worktop. The local engineering shop managed to supply one. Back at the job, with the tap fitted, I asked for the water to be switched on. Then found an old fitting was leaking. So the water needed to be switched off again.... And so the long day wore on.
Once the tap was on and the leaks all stopped, I checked on progress at the kitchen I first fixed last week, then headed to Stenness to look at a shower pump which had stopped working. It was dead, so headed to town to collect a new one, stopping at home for a very quick lunch.
The afternoon was spent crawling around in a loft replacing the shower pump. The view as I left the customer's house was worth a quick snap.
This evening we are heading to Mum and Dad's for dinner with C&C. It should be a bit of a giggle.
