reading:  finished The Dutch House in the early hours.  and enjoyed it a lot.
starting on As The Women Lay Dreaming by Donald S Murray
a novel about the Iolaire disaster.

in October 1914 my great uncle died in an earlier distaster, when HMS Hawke was sunk by submarine U-9 off Aberdeen.  David was on board a raft that escaped the sinking, but he succumbed to hypothermia.  

ten years later his mother finally found out what happened to her boy.
