Winter pruning

At the community orchard. The apple trees had a good cut back. I wasn't doing any physical work this morning, just hanging around taking photographs.

Last night was really enjoyable. A good meal at Café Gandolfi and the concert at City Halls. Gaelic trio SIAN and Breton trio EBEN (6 young women singers in all) had got together at last year's Festival Interceltique de Lorient and made lots of connections between their traditions. They were supported by six instrumentalists, three from Scotland and three from Brittany. Lovely energetic singing and an actual Celtic Connection. Great fun.

Today is damper than of late. Hats off to the stalwarts working in the orchard. I'm going out to the potting shed soon to have a fiddle about.

And today is the birthday of the bard, Robert Burns, 25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796. We will be having (veggie) haggis with the traditional accompaniments tonight. A dram might be enjoyed to the memory of both Burns and EJH, 22 December 1922-12January 2018 whose funeral took place two years ago today. Slàinte
