Part of Trinity College

This morning we decided to go to Cambridge on the 0900 train from our village; it was twenty-two minutes late. We only needed to collect something, which had been ordered; I also purchased two pairs of trousers from the same shop. I also took back a jumper, which was purchased for me for Christmas. It had only been worn and washed once and appeared to be faulty at one of the seams. Marks and Spencer’s agreed with me and replaced the jumper with an identical one.

We had a late breakfast in Harriet’s Tea Rooms. We have not been there for a while as in our opinion it went downhill a bit. Today it was excellent, but it has a new manager and some new staff; we shall go again.

As we had achieved everything we went out to do we decided to catch the 1320 hours train home. A few minutes before it was due to leave it was cancelled; someone on the line further South towards London. They were advising all passengers for London Liverpool Street Station to catch the Kings Cross train as the delays would be significant. We caught the Stansted Express, which stops at Audley End one station before ours. We then got a taxi home; it was the only one waiting in the car park, £10.50, which is £4.20 a mile! Just before Christmas the fare was £6.50, so a bit of a rip off, but at least we got home earlier than we might have done.

Today’s picture is a building, which I think is part of Trinity College in Cambridge.

The mouse is still at large!

The temperature at GMT noon was eight degrees Celsius.
