The Dragon Arrives

It was only last week that I learned of Chinese New Year celebrations in Leicester. They could have done with more publicity.

I hadn't seen the Dragon procession in Birmingham last Sunday so felt lucky to see one in Highcross shopping centre in Leicester today. The team of acrobats who had performed and hour earlier paraded the dragon. See extra for their human tower.

Kat was ill today and George was going to the footy with Len which gave William and I a chance to go out together. To be honest, Will was more interested in the marshmallow on his biscuit at Costa but once he saw the dragon, he took note. The acrobats disturbed him a bit. After all, we were standing on the edge of the performance area having deserted his biscuit and my tea to come out and watch. It's a very good vantage point.

Not as big a celebration as in Birmingham and certainly not as large as in Manchester but I hope for more displays in future. A professional video team was in attendance.

There is to be a grand finale in a heated tent on Humberstone Gate tomorrow.
