Shoes on the Danube

Our alarm was set for 7.30am, we went down for breakfast early and then went out for a final stroll along the Danube.  It was another gorgeous morning which made it hard to leave, but out taxi was booked for 9.45am so we had to head back.

The taxi was waiting and we arrived at the airport in good time.  The flight was delayed but only by about 15 minutes and despite a bit of turbulence the flight was fine - well apart from the amount of people coughing!  I ended up wrapping my scarf around my face in the hope of blocking some of the germs!  I’ve never seen so many people wearing masks, including staff and passengers, but the funniest was a guy on our flight wearing a builder’s mask lol!

Anyway we’re home, stopped off at the supermarket, unpacked, had dinner and now it’s time to go through my photos!

My blip is of the Shoes on the Danube which is a memorial to honour the Jews who were killed by fascist militiamen during World War II.  They were ordered to take off their shoes and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away, and represents their shoes left behind on the bank - another moving tribute.
