Water Woes

No problems with water earlier in the day. I put in a load of laundry, turned on the machine - no water! G went out to check the well house, thought he'd identified the problem, and rushed to town to get the part. He installed it, but no luck. One of the guys in the building supplies store told G that a power surge had fried his friend's electronics system. We had a couple of surges yesterday, so maybe that's what happened.
Luckily we have an excellent woman who looks after our well system. She called back after G left her a message - didn't expect to hear from her on a Sunday! She's coming tomorrow morning to see if she can identify the problem. We have emergency supplies of drinking water and a big barrel that we can get water from for the toilet, and if we run out of drinking water,  we can get some from our neighbour. Thank goodness for people who provide excellent service in emergencies and for good neighbours!
This is part of the system, way too complicated for me to understand. G does most of the maintenance himself, but he couldn't solve this one.
Ironically, just the other day we were talking about the luxury of having water, and hot water no less, at the turn of a tap.
