Great Mell Fell

It was a dull morning when I was out and about looking for a blip but the sun came out at lunch time so we went to do some gardening at the lodge.

In the Extra you can see the bank is very steep. Before The Man had his hip replacement this was very difficult for him to mow. I created a flower bed on the bank but that, also, has proved difficult. I started by filling the area with spring bulbs but rabbits dig them up. I planted colourful perennials but the rabbits pull them out.

Our next plan is to create a bed of conifers which will be underplanted with heathers, perhaps. We bought the conifers months ago but hadn't got round to planting them until today.

Although the weather wasn't wonderful at least the ground was soft to work. I'm usually trying to weed in summer when it's baked dry. Our other problem is that our lodge was built on the site of a demolished building so bricks and rubble hamper our digging!
