Tufted Ducks

It was very cold and windy up at the loch this morning. My plan was to walk round twice but as I neared the end of loop one the weather took a turn for the worse and the stinging, wintry rain started. 

Most of the birds, geese and gulls, had gathered on the sheltered side of the island ..... apart, that is, for the tufted ducks who tend to stay on the water.
