Hawkshead

Dry , not windy, so off to Hawkshead.

But first stop still in Barrow, a walk for Fletch up the slag bank . A left over from the iron steel industry in Barrow..the slag piled higher and higher For many years an ugly grey pile..but now grass and shrubs and gorse is growing over it..a path leads up and round it and links to the Channelside walk at the dock museum . Photo  right , not  the  the best photo , the view is looking south over the Channel to Walney Island

Next we drove up to Hawkshead. Quite a shock to see 100s of trees have been chopped down.. diseased larch apparently.

Once in Hawkshead we walked  past the Chocolate shop cow and up past   the old Grammar school. I'm curious if that's a clock above the door..but the numbers are in the wrong place.

Left middle photo. A double grave with a view!

Top right..an interesting way to use an old bath

After a stroll round the quiet village we had coffee and cake. ( In my case Mocha coffee) and Fletch had his 'packed lunch'
A pleasant drive back home via the coast road.
Bottom middle photo.. a tranquil Cavendish Dock for Fletchs 'teatime walk'.
