Post Holiday Post

'No post today,' we often say
when we're at home, day after day,
but just as soon as we're away
the postmen always call.

I gaze at mail inside the door,
letters, packets, bills galore,
but in my mind they change to more
like holiday-postcards in our hall.

So, this is a bit of a cheat - but, I hope, poetic licence permits! We did have to shove the door to open it over the pile of post. And coming back home from warmth and sunshine to ice and snow, I need to keep these colourful images in my head. Madeira, even in January, offers a floral fest. So I'm holding on to the holiday for as long as I possibly can ...
