Locally grown

This is a flower arrangement in our Funchal hotel. The way the flowers are arranged, all-of-a-kind together each respective side, echoes the tendency of gardeners on Madeira to plant different species of flowers, or floral bushes, en masse. So there will be a mass of orange, then pink, then crimson, rather than mixing the colours in their herbaceous borders. Certainly exploits the impact of their vivid colours.

These days, I'm pretty sure these mediterranean flowers are imported and can be bought from florists in the UK, but they don't come much more freshly cut than in this vase.

(Continuing to back-blip now we're back in cold, wet Blighty, where my laptop can recognise a camera-card when it's inserted!)
