South Bank (Thursday 6th February 2020)

On Thursday I met up with my brother The Spotlight Kid at the British Museum to see the exhibition Troy: Myth and Reality and to have lunch in the Members Room. I'd come in on the train to Paddington, and had a walk around the Paddington canal basin to get a few shots before catching a bus to Oxford Circus and walking up to Bloomsbury.
The exhibition was quite crowded but was an enjoyable experience and he took a few shots of some of the exhibits.
He had arrived at Waterloo, so when we left the museum we revisited former haunts by strolling down Shaftesbury Avenue and St Martins Lane together to Hungerford Bridge, where I got a snap of a pavement portrait painter, and the South Bank. He went on to Waterloo station and I continued along the Riverside Walk, where I took this blip under Waterloo Bridge.
When I lived in London I was a member of the National Film Theatre and used to see films there several times a month. It is now part of the BFI but I was pleased to see they still have film seasons (currently celebrating Fellini).
Before the journey home I had time to go to Notting Hill to browse at the Music and Video Exchange and bought a dozen second hand CDs and DVDs, using up some of the vouchers I had from selling albums there in the past.
I reached Swindon at 2020 hr, had a swift pint in Wootton Bassett (not driving!) where I had to change buses, and got home to a hungry Smokey 2200 hr.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Wailers featuring Bob Marley - High Tide Or Low Tide (recorded December 1969, Dynamic Studios, Kingston, Jamaica)
Marley's Ghost was guiding me throughout this trip to London. On the train down I was reading an article where Bunny Wailer was talking about his time in the Wailers, and while we were on the South Bank the Spotlight Kid mentioned the film biography Marley. Later on at Notting Hill I came across the 2CD 2012 Marley original soundtrack going for £3 and bought it.
As it turned out, 6th February would have been Bob Marley's 75th birthday.
All of the tracks on Marley had been previously released (a couple only on videos) but there were a few rarities, including High Tide Or Low Tide, which was recorded for a single in 1969 but not released. It was mixed at Harry J's Studio in October 1992 for possible inclusion on the album Catch A Fire that was being made there, but ultimately omitted as enough new material had been recorded. It did not see official release until 1992 on the box set Songs Of Freedom, although Bob Marley occasionally performed the song live throughout his career.
