A Birthday Party

It's my co-grandmother's birthday today. We typically take care of the grandchildren on Saturday afternoons...they're a handful, too big of a handful for one person. Truly delightful children, but their ages, 2 and 6, make it hard to spend quality time with both kids at the same time. So we solve it by spending the afternoon together, drinking tea and chatting while playing with the kids...usually it divides up quite naturally, and then it switches on a dime so we both get to play with each child. Meanwhile, her partner makes snacks for the kids and tea for us. We all have great fun!

My co-grandmother is an avid gardener, but prefers planting in containers. As a present, I brought her a bunch of late winter annuals and forced bulbs: primroses in three shades of pink - one of which is pictured above...(apologies for the poor quality!), white pansies, a pot of grape hyacinths and a regular white hyacinth.

Her partner bought a lovely cake (in the extra) which was advertised as "Pink Champagne" - a really lovely white cake with quite good frosting and of course pink roses!

Great fun was had by all. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday...I'll be ready for a rest by tomorrow night!
