Old Joint Stock Theatre

Found this pub come theatre by complete chance a year or so ago, during a girls night out in Birmingham. I think it was T's idea to come here for our Xmas get together. The theatre is a small room at the top of the pub, it's a fantastic venue, you are intimately placed with the actors! We'd come to see Miracle on 34rd street, a 1947 film telling the story of how the real Santa Claus - aka Kris Kringle - ends up playing himself in Macy's flagship New York City store on 34th Street. The movie was so successful that the story was retold on radio, and we got to see the story presented as a radio play being performed in a recording studio (complete with ‘on air’ and ‘applause’ signs), complicated perhaps, but it really worked!  The show was fantastic, actors phenomenal, a real Christmas treat!
