Calum Colvin Exhibition

Patricia had attended the Royal Scottish Academy Calum Colvin exhibition in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago.

I received an invitation as an Alumni member to attend the opening of the exhibition in the Matthew Building of DofJCAD last night which is in Dundee,

It is a wonderful exhibition to visit. I believe it is open until 27th February. Calum Colvin is an excellent photographer with an original approach.

His website is calumcolvin.com  and is well worth a look.

The Blipfoto is of his book which describes the exhibition.

Away back many years ago (47) I was a member of the design team who worked on the design of the Matthew Building. It was a pleasure to see the Level 5 exhibition area being used as originally intended. The exhibition is superb and well worth seeing.

I had a chat with the University Curator and remarked that I had done work on the refurbishment of the Cooper Gallery 46 years ago. It is still as we left it and is highly regarded by the student body.

Over the years, I have met many staff and students who have remarked how much they enjoyed the facilities we had designed for them.

Perhaps the most intriguing twist of all was the revelation that Tom Normand, the author of the book, and his wife lived in a house that we had designed some years ago for a developer. It was one of two and located on a most awkward site.

Husband and wife were full of praise for the work we had done, and we are looking forward to meeting them again and visiting the house and their award winning garden.

All in all, a most interesting evening and I am going to return and visit the exhibition to examine Calum Colvin’s work in detail.

If you are in Dundee, and interested in photography make every effort to see the exhibition. It is breathtaking.
