Moeraki Supermoon

Sunday - the Sabbath - a day of rest.  Spent the morning at last night's resting spot and whilst the wild winds had died down overnight quite a bit, some wind remained and it remained cold.  Surprisingly, or maybe not, the short 15 minute drive to my chosen resting spot for tonight near the Moeraki Boulders took me over a very small hill and into relative shelter where the sun could actually create some warmth.  In fact, it created so much warmth I had to buy what must be THE best value ice cream in New Zealand.....2 full, massive scoops for just $4.  Even I struggled to finish it.  Still, it seemed a fitting way to celebrate a return to summer.

Took a walk along to the Boulders that were, of course, crawling with tourists (what do you mean, that's what I am??!) who always seem to love crawling all over the Boulders.  Managed to scope out a possible photo location for tonight's supermoon later on this evening though.  By sunset, the crawling tourists had largely disappeared and were replaced by clicking tourists - there was Marcus from Minnesota, Kevin from Christchurch, Susan, also from Christchurch me amongst them.  It was a much smaller gathering than I had anticipated and we happily chatted, clicked and compared until the moon rose over the Boulders and the beautiful sunset-moon rise light turned to black.  It was a beautiful sight indeed and a lovely way to spend a gorgeous evening.
