Owls...

………………..are Wise

Our daughter went before a panel this morning in the final stage of her doctorate - and she passed.

This completes several years of university study. Needless to say, as parents we are extremely proud of all she has achieved.

This alabaster owl, looking wise and thoughtful was bought for her when we visited Olympia, Greece in expectation of this important day.

The owl is especially associated with wisdom in Greek mythology being linked with Athena, the Goddess of Wisdom.

In Western culture, owls are synonymous with wisdom and knowledge. ... In Greek and Roman mythology, owls were associated with education, intellect and magic, probably because of their wide eyes, solemn expression and ability to see through darkness (from the internet)
