Snow Drifts

Yesterday late and through the night the wind was blowing hard out of the north. So today when I went out into the cold, there were these 8 inch drifts diagonally across the driveway.

Last year we finally took down a row of spruce trees that have been there for decades and helped keep the wind out of the yard. But they were ageing and getting sick and so we had to cut them down. These spruce trees were planted so that they would be ready to take over for the older spruce once it came time to take them down. 

So today we see the resulting effect, at least for a few more years as these spruce trees grow up.
