Mixed Blessings

"Probably, but at least he's mature enough to know it's not going to change anything in his life. Nancy will figure that eventually, too, that it doesn't diminish my affection for them. But she'll make your life miserable in the meantime, if you let her." And then he looked sternly at Pilar. "I don't want her upsetting you right now. Is that clear?" He sounded very firm, and she smiled at him as they went back to their bedroom.

"Yes, Your Honour."

"Good. And I don't want to hear from the little beast until she remembers her manners."

These pages, lying on a dark, wet Edinburgh pavement - a snapshot of the middle of a story (probably not even my type of story given the author) - intrigued me. Who were these people? What had the woman done to upset Pilar? Why was she a 'little beast'? What was he being firm about before taking her back to the bedroom?!

Who knows? Who cares? Certainly not the person who burnt and discarded these pages. Or maybe they were upset at Ms Steel stealing their story?

A transient fragment of some imaginary lives that intersected with someone's real life before finding their way to the pavement in front of me.

How odd.

I know what you're thinking ... keep taking the tablets 42!

LOTD: Shutter-shooter's "7 in the morning" blip - great focus, colours and sparkley dew and bokeh. A fab first blip too!
