Last of a Kind

We attended a very sad funeral today. Although our neighbour was 83 he should have had many years left.
Probably the last farmer to make his entire living in the Megalong Valley, he was as hard working as ever until the last few weeks when he could no longer battle his cancer.
Even during the fires two months ago he was off creating fire breaks and sadly had to shoot a lot of his calves as all the feed was burnt.
As our nearest neighbour he was a great source of wisdom and help. The bottom image is from the order of service and typifies the true bushman that he was.
He spent his entire life in the valley and everyone turned out to the tiny church today to farewell him. He will be greatly missed by all, especially his wife and loving family who all live nearby.
