Contrasts

Started the day by sliding on the ice on my street and going down like Bambi....no harm done though. Somewhat vexing meeting in the morning amidst news of reshuffles, then busy stuff the rest of the day before a reception and dinner. As is often the case with these things I wasn’t particularly looking forward to going but it was interesting and some lovely people there, as well as fascinating discussion over dinner where senior politicians were very open and collegial despite their strong party differences. The lobby of Old College has been redecorated and the new photos hung....this quote is very true!
