Wet wet wet in Swaziland (eswantini)

A drive to Hlane animal park supposedly the kings old hunting grounds. Crossed border into Swaziland and drove to Swazi Candles, an ‘arty’ complex of little shops and stalls selling expensive batik, vivid tablecloths, dolls, carved wooden animals and candles in the shape of animals. Took an extra 3 hours going there - filling in time perhaps? . Drove the 1.5 hours back to rondavals. By now pelting down with rain. Rondavals in woodland. Some impala. Very very hot and humid and sweaty. It is quite a basic place with Mozzie nets round beds and 2 windows open with a screen on them. A loo and shower but no electricity. The water isn’t drinkable but we had a flask with hot water. A woman came to light paraffin lamps which were very smelly so we left ours on the covered area outside. We sat outside under the roof to keep dry on a kind of veranda. Eventually it was time to squelch over to the main building for dinner - as usual there were many meat dishes. Veggies and meat eaters got salad, some veg, a kind of maize thing and there was what they said was tomato and onion relish but was a vinegary gloop. It was a very hot humid night.

These are the ladies with the lamps which can be seen in the rondaval behind.
