Uphill To Weston-super-Mare

After we'd dropped Sophie at school and had breakfast, we headed to Uphill and walked along the beach as far as the Grand Pier at Weston-super-Mare and back, notching up 6k and over 10000 steps.

The beach was very busy, with a lot of people walking their dogs but I managed to get this uninterrupted view of Brean Down, which we walked along a few Fridays back.

The afternoon was spent trying, unsuccessfully, to help Kate get her flat purchase completed. The person she is buying from lives in New Zealand and their solicitor had neglected to contact her until this morning to confirm her final permission for the sale, by which time, of course, it was night time in NZ and she was no doubt fast asleep. The solicitor refused to complete the deal meaning Kate will be paying £17 a day in interest on her mortgage, hopefully only until Monday by which time no doubt the seller will have given her consent.

They are refusing to cover this cost, despite their mistake and even had the nerve to send a new bill through right at the end of the day, charging Kate three days extra rent and service charges on the flat, which she is currently renting from the owner.

We, and Kate's solicitor, were not amused. They may well be receiving a strongly worded complaint on Monday.

We restored equilibrium with a strong gin and a Valentine's meal of mussels with chorizo & tomato, steak with lemony Greek potatoes and Belgian chocolate cheesecake, all courtesy of Lidl!
