There was a time...

...when seeing one of these guys on a fast-flowing urban waterway would have been an exciting spot. These days, with Otters and Kingfishers almost commonplace in the city, Dippers seem like less of a big deal. Which is a shame as they are beautiful little birds, and fascinating to watch as they dive repeatedly into the current looking to catch insects and small fish. This was one of a pair on the Figgate Burn this lunchtime, hopefully staking out a breeding territory.
