Kennet and Avon

Early to Waverley. Dennis threatens, but so far it all looks fine. I hop aboard the 9:00 to Kings Cross and it’s empty. We leave on time.

People get on and off between Newcastle and York, but it’s empty again as we pull into London. It has started to rain, so I tube it to Paddington rather than walk. Which leaves me half an hour to sip a pint.

I get to Bedwyn just after four. It’s still raining. A row of residential barges are noted on the canal, but I’m whisked off to the warmth of my mother’s place just down the road.

It turns out that neither of us have watched the last episode of The Trial Of Christine Keeler. So we do.
