Branch Meeting

I spotted the snow covered trunks of the fallen tree at a distance and framed them with my telephoto zoom nearly at full extension being careful with the aperture to get decent depth of field.

Although the bright snow on the trunks are where my eye went first, I also liked the grassy bank in the foreground and accordingly decided to place the trunks off centre.

I think by doing so there is a nice flow to the shape of the snow through the image. I cropped out some of the dead space in the foreground, but now I'm thinking the balance of lights/darks is too balanced.
