Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

Something has chewed our aucuba .....

.... but it is already starting to recover.

The aucuba was one of the few shrubs left from when we moved into the house.  We rather liked the "paint splattered" effect.

When we returned from holiday, many of the leaves had been chewed back.  It's not a very tall shrub - maybe just 1 metre tall.  The chewed leaves were on the lowest branches, the leaves on the uppermost branches were spared (see extra).  Whatever it was, it had eaten almost all the low lying leaves, so was clearly hungry!  My first thought was rabbit, but I actually think some of the higher chewed leaves would have been difficult for a rabbit to reach - so maybe muntjac?
