The Warm Glow

From a very early age, somewhere in the 60s, I was fascinated with the warm glow that emanated from radios and TVs.

What were these things and how did they work?

I ended up doing an apprenticeship in Radio Servicing in Christchurch, New Zealand and found myself working on the very latest B&W valve TV sets and Radiograms. I watched colour TV, Beta video, cassettes and all those new fads develop with great interest.

So, many years, electric shocks and burnt fingers later I find myself still fascinated with these valves.

Of course I know how they work now and have become somewhat of a specialist with valve guitar amps.

Still a lovely warm comforting glow.
