Lunch in the bath house

WEDNESDAY

At lunchtime I checked out the egg florentine at the new Toast Cafe on the ever expanding University of Huddersfield campus.

The cafe (and small art gallery) is in a refurbished grade II listed building which built in 1955 to provide washing and drying facilities for employees of engineering firm Thomas Broadbent and Sons. No expense was spared and the building, inspired by works of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, featured lockers into which hot air was pumped to dry employees' clothes.

Many of the features including the showers and lockers are still preserved.
