Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

Inauguration day..

I thought the ceremony and the people, performers, families, etc. involved in the inauguration was very inspiring....and the site of that sea of American flags breathtaking. It made me go look up a slide carousel of my 35mm slides from Jan 1969 when we lived in the DC area and watched president Nixon parade past inside a limo. (watergate was in the wings....) No one walked a step then. There were also decorated floats with horses and stagecoaches and who knows what all.
Anyway, today was better and seemed so hopeful!

Also Martin Luther King day and a school holiday so we made a trip with 3 grandchildren (and son #2) to the newly opened Museum of History and Industry in the old armory building at the south end of Lake Union. OH my it's a wonderfully designed space for learning about our NW history - it will take many trips to see it all. and there are wonderful views of the lake. Still very foggy today. But decided on a museum blip for today - this was a photography/poetry exhibit -students have been there looking at old historical photos as well as some of their own and writing poetry! Niklas and Tatum are using the notebooks provided to add their own additions while Oskar takes a closer look at an old photo. Then they spent some time hanging out here, enjoying one another, with the addition of Fiona for dinner who didn't want to be left out! Whew! We're tired.......

Short Report on the IMAX/3D Hobbit - my only complaint is that it's TOO LOUD! but I loved it and all the elves, dwarves, trolls ,orcs and hobbits that son #1 who came with us along with Tatum, had to straighten out for me -we read this when he was a kid - several times...(son#2 didn't like it) - I'll look forward to the next installment!
