Splendid Isolation

There's something strangely comforting about being out in a snow storm. I think it's to do with feeling cut off from the surroundings by swirling snow shrouding the trees and veiling one's vision. I also sensed excitment, maybe from the energy generated by snow flakes whirling around me.

Making photographs, I felt a disorientating sensation of the familiar becoming not so, as spindrift watered my eyes. Strange actually that I find it comforting!

Using a long focal length, wide aperture and fast shutter speed, I had more success in capturing the flakes in motion than my previous attempts. I noticed my better shots were those of snow falling against dark trees. Logically I suppose.
