Plus ça change...

Ahead of its time

Spotted this perfect bursting cluster of leaves on an otherwise totally bare tree. All the surrounding trees were similarly naked, with only a few tightly closed buds to show that spring is anywhere on the horizon. This one may fall foul of the frosts yet to come.

This reminded me somehow of Jonathon Fletcher, who I was reading about at the weekend. He's the systems administrator from Stirling University, so broke he was apparently sleeping in his lab, who invented the first search engine - before anyone had a clue that they might need one.

Shows the importance of time and place. He was just a genius ahead of his time, I guess.

Lovely long walk with the kids after school, along the old railway between Haddington and Longniddry. It's never muddy, sheltered, and always quiet. Perfect on a day that's not sure if it's spring or not.
