Shrove Saturday

I follow the Maldon and Burnham Standard on Twitter. This 'rag'* covers the area in Essex where I was born and brought up. I read that the community shop in Purleigh was organising a pancake race today, rather than next Tuesday, in the hope that more people would be free to attend.

Ollie dog and I got there in good time and had a walk around the lovely village which overlooks the River Blackwater and is surrounded by vineyards. The locals were very friendly and as can be seen from my image, really enjoyed the competition.

* PS Not me having a go at the M&BS, the newspaper was known as the Burnham rag when I was a child.
