We appreciated the luxury of a comfy bed and had a relaxing morning after three days of endless travelling. The Thai hut may have been nasty and dank but the organisation of the last three days was very good but left no time whatsoever to take it easy. So today we made up for this as we did not leave our room until eleven.
We had coffee at a cafe that had a control panel on each table with three buttons which enabled the customer to:-
1. Call the waiter
2. Request the bill
3. Call the Manager.
Each waiter wore a watch that beeped as they were needed. A great idea with no more trying to catch the waiter's eye. I pressed the button to call the manager who arrived looking a little apprehensive until he realised that I wanted to thank him for his excellent coffee cake and service. We chatted for some ten minutes before we left to explore the huge Nelson Mandela Square Mall. This shopping centre is one of the largest retail complexes on the continent with over 400 stores. It's massive. We spent most of the day exploring and bought a couple of things but by 4.30pm we had only seen about half of it. Our day of rest turned out to be rather exhausting and we returned to our room for a nap.
Later we returned to the Mall and ate at Hard Rock Café where we had a bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate Prosecco Sunday. Hard Rock Café had the usual pop star Memorabilia including a leather jacket once worn by Jimi Hendrix and a shirt worn by Paul McCartney.
