Enjoying the late afternoon sun

A day on which I learned about a congenital brain disorder. Unilateral Closed Lip Schizencephaly. It can be bilateral and either can be open lip. It is rare. It can be associated with psychotic illness. Unclear if that is pure chance or that is a causal link. I thank my US registrar for this new knowledge. Always good to be learning.

Dropped off S and daughter J at an inner city fringe theatre and went to Westhaven with my camera. Model radio controlled yacht racing. All the "pilots" were men of an age not too distant from my own. Dragon boats training. Runners in a pub sponsored race. Walkers. Cyclists, Young men on electric scooters. A tentative skate boarder, partnering a much more confident skate boarder. A solo paddler in an outrigger kayak. Half a dozen Karuhiruhi (Pied shags), one of which is my blip.

As I was about to leave to pick up S and J after the performance (quite short at just over an hour), a rather large expensive looking BMW drove away from next to S' little Nissan Micra. With CR plates. Those plates are for Cabinet Ministers chauffeur driven cars. Then a couple of tourists wanted to know if this was Westhaven. Told yes, they expressed surprise as they had been told that they could see a grand sunset here.

Actually No. To see the sunset they would need to be on the other side of the marina, and probably pass under the harbour bridge approach. Quite some walk from where they were. they smiled and set out.
